This means QuickTime, Windows Media Player, and Real Media Player will no longer work in Chrome. With the release of version 42 of Chrome in early 2015, Google has decided that their Chrome web browser will no longer support plugins created using the NPAPI plugin technology. There is no need to install anything extra, because the needed plugin is already installed with every installation of Windows. The Windows Media Player plugin is available in the form of different installers for different Web Browsers. In order for the Universal Media Player to successfully play your media file utilizing Windows Media Player technology within a Web Browser, the Windows Media Player must first be installed (as a plugin) for your browsers. It plays fine in Internet Explorer but not Firefox or Chrome. I'm using a Universal Media Player (configured as a Windows Media Player on the Advanced tab of the editor) to play a media file.
